Do you know what to do if you get a DUI? The contract is clear on what you must do if you lose your license. You must report it to your employer before the beginning of your next shift. Not a few days later, not when you get around to it. I would call my Steward first if I were you (before you report it to management) and he can tell you what the contract says and what is going to happen next. Don't think that you can get by on a temporary license and UPS won't find out. They will find out and you'll be fired, not for losing your license, but for not reporting it as required by your contract. If you are in jeopardy of losing your license, read Article 16, sec. 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3 and call your steward right away. He will accompany you when you go to your boss in the morning to report. He can help say the right things and ask the right questions. You may be able to work in the hub and later return to driving. The best way to avoid this whole mess is to never drink and drive. But just in case...know your rights. www.denverbrown.com
