What is your Locals stance about the "threats of termination" if a driver cannot recite the 10 point commentary, 8 steps to lifting and lowering, 5 seeing habits, 5 parts of proper backing and 5 steps to prevent slips and falls. Our Local 509 pres is taking a reactive stance as opposed to taking a proactive stance. He's waiting for someone to get fired first! He says "since you did not learn that in orientation that can't force you to do it now." My thought is this. If they want me to learn it, "put me on the clock!"

We've had them threaten, but no action taken yet. They kept saying knowing all of that was a condition of employment, but the only attempts to discipline were squashed by the labor manager. Our contention is if they want everyone to know it they need to pack a class and teach everyone. My contention is it's punishment for getting injured and it is their attempt to keep drivers from reporting injuries. Greive it as harrassment first.

I often wonder what will it take for a Man to be a Man. The company and union make 97% of UPS drivers act like little ladies. And when they have a problem they ask a REAL STEWART or ACTIVIST as the company call's ME, to represent them. The majority of the drivers are scared to even file a grivence. LOOK be MEN when its time to be MEN, stand up for what is right and be able to recite articles when you are being harassed. REMEMBER: BE PROACTIVE, BE PROACTIVE, BE PROACTIVE. From a STEWART tired of Professionals acting like children.
